This one came to us through a referral. The homeowner's neighbor had used us a few months earlier and recommended they give us a call. They had been getting quotes from a couple of other companies but weren't comfortable with what they were being told — one company wanted to do a layover instead of a full tear-off, which we never recommend.
When Asher got up on the roof for the inspection, the damage was worse than it looked from the ground. The valleys had been leaking for a while — you could see dark staining on the decking underneath, and three sheets of plywood were soft enough to push through with a thumb. We pulled all of that out and replaced it before anything else went down. The rest of the deck was solid so we moved straight into underlayment and ice and water shield.
The house is on a corner lot with a lot of wind exposure, so HDZ was a good fit — the LayerLock technology gives it serious hold in high winds. We went with Charcoal to match the shutters and the stone on the front of the house. Took three days because of the deck work, but the end result came out great. We pulled the old box vents and ran a ridge vent across the peak — the attic had almost no airflow before, and the homeowner mentioned their upstairs rooms were always too warm. Registered the System Plus warranty with GAF before we left the jobsite.
