We've done a lot of work in Waterford Village over the years, so when this homeowner reached out about replacing both the roof and gutters, we already knew the neighborhood well. The house is one of the larger ones in the subdivision — 42 squares with a good number of hips and valleys that made it a more involved job.
The old roof was three-tab shingles that had been on for about 18 years. They weren't actively leaking yet, but the granule loss was heavy and you could tell they were on borrowed time. We tore everything off and found a few spots of soft decking where water had been sitting around some of the valley intersections. We cut those sections out and replaced them before laying anything new down.
The homeowner went with Timberline HDZ in Weatherwood — a good choice for the earth-tone brick on this house. We ran the full GAF system: starter strips, ridge caps, and all the matching accessories needed for the System Plus warranty.
The gutters were the other half of this project. The existing 5-inch aluminum gutters were pulling away from the fascia in a few spots and overflowing during heavy rain because they just couldn't handle the volume coming off a roof this size. We pulled all of them down and fabricated new 5-inch seamless aluminum gutters on-site from our truck-mounted coil machine. We also installed LeafFilter gutter guards across the entire system to keep debris out and eliminate the need for seasonal cleaning. Between the new roof and the gutter system, this house is set for decades.
